IMPHAL, Feb 10: Taking into account volatile law and order situation and security of officials, particu- larly VVIPs while moving within and beyond the State, it has been decided that all VVIPs travelling from Tulihal Airport be advised to inform the Joint General Manager of Imphal airport in advance so that intensive security arrangements can be made in time.A decision to this effect was adopted at an official meeting presided by the Chief Minister on February 4. The meeting decided to inform the Joint General Manager in advance about movement/arrival of VVIPs including the Governor and the Chief Minister from/at Imphal airport.On other hand, the State Government has proposed two new IRB battalions to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram during his visit to the State recently. The proposed IRB battalions would be used for guarding National Highways, Tipaimukh Dam and other important structures.Meanwhile, following approval by the Union Government to convert 8th IRB battalion into a commando unit, the State Government has issued a notification in this regard.
